When I first started Red Dirt Robotics, one thing was crystal clear to me: our young people in regional Australia deserve the same opportunities in technology education as their city counterparts. I saw firsthand how many students in remote areas lacked access to foundational technology skills, and I knew I had to do something about it.

Today, after reaching over 3,500 young engineers across regional and remote Australia, I’m more convinced than ever that location should never limit potential. Every time I pack up my robots, drones, and 3D printers for another journey into the heart of Australia, I’m driven by the transformations I get to witness.

The moment that always gets me is when students first lay their hands on a Micromelon Rover. Their eyes light up, their posture changes, and suddenly, they can see themselves as future engineers, programmers, or tech innovators. These are the moments that make every kilometre traveled worth it.

I’ve seen students go from “I’ve never seen a robot before” to confidently programming complex movements in just one workshop. It’s not just about the technology – it’s about showing these kids that they can be part of Australia’s tech future, no matter where they live.
